Prize Chair

This year marks my second as HamX Prize Chair, and I’m thinking about prizes that will get you excited: several fun radios and accessories. I ask myself: What would I want if I were sitting in the crowd at the Sunday afternoon Closing Ceremonies and the door prizes were being drawn?

We’re giving away over $15,000 of door prizes. Our top prize is a Yaesu FT-891 mobile with the ATAS-120a mobile antenna. I own this combo and it’s a blast to make contacts with them from the car. The Elecraft KH1 Edgewood is a POTA/SOTA dream radio. You don’t have to be in attendance to win either prize.

On Friday night, one DX Contest Banquet attendee will win an Icom IC-7610 courtesy of DX Engineering. At the conclusion of the Saturday morning keynote, we’re raffling off a QMX 5-band QRP Transceiver and accessories. At the Saturday evening Grand Banquet, a lucky banquet attendee will walk away with a Yaesu FT-710 Field. You’ll need to attend the keynote and banquets in order to win the aforementioned prizes. Plus, many more prizes will be raffled away at the Sunday Closing Ceremonies.

The Kenwood TH-D75 is a very cool VHF/UHF/ D-star handheld and a very desirable radio. One FEMARA board member has already told me he wants to win the top-of-the-line Uniden SDS200 base/mobile scanner. If you like listening, you’ll definitely want this scanner.

Three D printing is all the rage today. If you’re planning to attend the “3D Printers and Ham Radio” talk by NT1K, then the Bambu Lab 3D printer door prize will excite you. You’ll need to be present at the Closing Ceremony Prize Drawing to be eligible to win.

We’re giving away many other exciting prizes, so be sure to deposit your ticket stub in the drum for a chance to win the Saturday day door prizes and the Sunday afternoon Closing Ceremony prizes. The lucky winners are going to have some fun!

I hope to see you at HamX. It’s going to be a great ARRL Division Convention. Be sure to find me and say hello.
