There will be a total of three license exam sessions:
- Saturday, August 15, 2026, 9:00 AM Online Registration
- Saturday, August 15, 2026, 1:00 PM Online Registration
- Sunday, August 16, 2026, 10:00 AM Online Registration
Exam fee is $15.00 ($5.00 if under age 18) Cash or make check payable to: ARRL VEC
Candidates under the age of 13 must have a parental consent form on file with Hamstudy.org: ExamTools COPPA Form
What should I bring to the exam Session
- One legal photo ID (identification):
- State Driver’s License
- Government issued Passport
- Military or Law Enforcement Officer Photo ID card
- Student School Photo ID card
- State Photo ID card
- If no photo ID is available, two forms of identification:
- Non‑photo State ID card (some states still have them)
- Birth certificate (must have the appropriate seal)
- Social security card
- Employer’s wage statement or Minor’s work permit
- School ID card
- School or Public Library card
- Utility bill, bank statement or other business correspondence that
specifically names the person; or a postmarked envelope addressed to
the person at his or her current mailing address as it appears on
Form 605
- Students/minors without a photo ID need only one of the above items if a
legal guardian presents their photo ID; otherwise two non‑photo IDs are
required.
ARRL will cover the one‑time FCC application fee for new license candidates
younger than 18 years old for tests administered under the ARRL VEC program.
Candidates younger than 18 years old pay a reduced exam session fee of $5.
Minor children may be accompanied in the room by an adult during the test. - If applicable, bring a printed copy of your Amateur Radio license or proof
from the FCC database (FCC, ARRL, or QRZ printouts accepted). CSCE copies
may be required. Expired license proof must be submitted and will not
be returned. - A calculator with memory cleared is allowed. No notes or stored formulas.
Phones and smart devices may not be used. - Bring a check, money order, or cash for exam session fees.

The FCC now requires all candidates to have an FRN number.
Social Security numbers are no longer accepted at an exam session.
