Ham Bootcamp - Getting Started in Amateur Radio

The Nashua Area Radio Society (NARS), will be hosting a Ham Bootcamp on Saturday, September 7th from 9 AM until noon.

Ham Bootcamp is a series of activities designed to help newly licensed Technician and General class license holders get on the air and use their amateur radio license, or for prospective hams who are interested in seeing what the hobby has to offer, including:

  • HT Programming Tutorials and Help
  • Getting Started with EchoLink
  • Joining a Repeater Net
  • Fox Hunting Demonstrations
  • Building a Station for Repeaters
  • Building an HF Station including simple HF Antennas

... and more!

NARS members will be offering the Bootcampers guided tours of the vendor area, youth exposition display, as well as their HF, Satellite, and Repeater Get on the Air (GOTA) stations. and the kit building activities will be offered at a discount to Bootcampers! Participation in the hands-on training will be on a first come, first serve basis, so arrive early for a seat.

Exposition for Young People

In addition to Ham Bootcamp, the Nashua Area Radio Society will also be hosting a Exposition for Young People on September 7th and 8th in the Exhibitor Hall. This exposition will include many hands-on activities, videos, and displays about amateur radio and wireless communications, and is ideal for young people, parents, and educators. Free Admission for Students

As always, General Admission tickets for the convention are absolutely free for all students! Just bring your student ID to the ticket booth in the atrium for your free student General Admission ticket.
