Those wishing to take an exam are required to bring the following:
Identification: The candidate must present a legal photo ID. This requirement is usually met with a driver's license, but it can be a passport or other legal identification card with the candidate's photo on it. When no photo ID is available, the candidate must present any two of the following:
Minors not having sufficient identification must have a concerned adult over the age of 21 with sufficient ID that can vouch for the identity of the minor.
Forms: The form VEC 605 necessary for application is available on-site. Any existing original licenses or Certificates of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) and copies of each to accompany the current application must be brought with you.
General: Non programmable calculators are allowed; cell phone calculators are NOT allowed. Scratch paper and writing utensils will be provided. The applicants are required to observe proper decorum, so as not to disturb other applicants.
You need to use your FCC registration number (FRN) on the license application, which can be found on your current FCC license. If you do not have an FRN, your Social Security number can be used. If you wish to obtain an FRN before the exam, you can obtain one through the FCC's Commission Registration System (CORES).
