The convention kicks off on Thursday night with comedic magician Jack Miller! His brand of “approachable weirdness” brings smiles, laughs, and gasps to any occasion. Having honed his skills since childhood (during the cooling of the earth’s crust), Jack’s close-up and parlor magic carries a degree of whimsical chaos described as “Gomez Addams meets Wile E. Coyote.” He prefers to take that as a compliment.
We are thrilled to welcome Max Freedman, N4ML, representing the next generation of Amateur Radio. Licensed in 2016 at age 12, he has rapidly become an elite contester, DXer, 2026 WRTC competitor, and Caribbean Contesting Consortium member. He even activated rare DXCC countries like Bouvet Island as part of the historic 3YØK team. Max is an active member in the YCCC, NCDXF, INDEXA, SEDXC, and the local Newington Amateur Radio League. He has truly made a vocation out of his avocation, working full-time at the ARRL’s Education and Learning Department where he is heavily involved in the Teacher’s Institute and youth outreach programs.
Our keynote speaker is Katie Campbell, KE8LQR, who highlights the very best of youth in radio. Licensed at age ten, Katie has become a powerhouse in CW and contesting with the North Coast Contesters and the Bavarian Contest Club. She serves as the Public Relations Manager for Youth on the Air (YOTA) for the Americas and is a former instructor for the Long Island CW Club kids program.
