This presentation provides a high-level introduction to artificial intelligence and its relevance to amateur radio and wireless communications. It focuses on building insight into emerging AI technology in ham radio through weak-signal decoding, interference detection, and propagation prediction for operators and enthusiasts.
I am a high school amateur radio operator and one of the youngest members actively engaged in regional ham radio communities, holding a General class license. My interest in wireless communications began in middle school and was shaped early through Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects, where I first explored embedded systems and wireless experimentation. I have since developed hands-on experience in RF systems through antenna setup, station configuration, and continued amateur radio operations. I currently serve as the Youth Outreach Lead for the Patriot Radio Club (Arizona), where I lead technical outreach efforts, support club activities, and mentor new and aspiring ham operators. I am also an active member of W1OP (Rhode Island), participating in disaster recovery events, winter field operations, and competitive RF communication exercises focused on real-world emergency communications. Beyond amateur radio, I have conducted independent research in AI-based assistive technology systems and developed a generalized zero-shot machine learning model for detecting zero-day attacks in low-power wireless networks, which was presented at IEEE conferences and the Massachusetts State Science & Engineering Fair. I continue to pursue amateur radio as a platform for technical outreach, integrating AI, embedded systems, and wireless communications while mentoring and inspiring new hams across New England and Arizona communities.
