Join Jim Jones, KC1YGY, for a presentation of “Using AI to create software for ham radio” at the 2026 Northeast HamXposition.
Jim will discuss and show how he built his own hotspot software and logging software using AI.
Jim got into radio in high school when he met an Elmer through his church (N1AXS). “I found it fascinating to listen to radio stations from around the world. Even though it took me many years to get my license after that. I didn’t get my first license until I was in the Navy and helped with MARS. I used to be KG4UOF. In 2005, I moved to New Zealand, where I got the call ZL2USA. I was in AREC, the NZ version of ARES, and helped with many successful search-and-rescue operations. I also served as secretary of my local club for 2 years. I returned to the States in 2010 and had to put the hobby aside for a bit. In 2025, I received my general class license and writing software for ham radio operators.”
